Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane Campus (McAuley at Banyo) has its origins in McAuley College, which was formed in 1955 by the Sisters of Mercy for the preparation of Sisters of Mercy to teach in Catholic schools. It soon extended its mission to include members of other Religious Orders, and was further extended in 1973 when lay students were admitted. Responsibility for the Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane changed to the Archdiocese of Brisbane in 1976, then to Bishops of Queensland in 1983. Sites for the College included All Hallows in central Brisbane, Dutton Park, and Michelton.
Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane Campus (McAuley at Banyo), has five schools, offering Education, Nursing, Arts, Social Science, Theology and Business and Information Systems, plus a wide range of postgraduate courses. With over 2,700 students enrolled at ACU National’s Brisbane Campus (McAuley at Banyo) the campus is rightly proud of its history. Located near the Library, St Paul’s Theological College provides theology courses for ordained and lay students. The St Paul’s Theological College Collection is housed in the University Library. With 40 landscaped hectares and more than 360 car parks, Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane Campus (McAuley at Banyo) offers staff and students more space and better facilities than our previous campus at Mitchelton. The Vice-Chancellor as the chief executive officer of Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane is responsible for representing the University both nationally and internationally and for providing strategic leadership and management of the University.Deputy Vice-Chancellors have delegated responsibility for assigned areas of policy. These areas are Academic; Administration and Resources; Research and Students, Learning and Teaching. Associate Vice-Chancellors are based in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. They act as the Vice-Chancellor's representative in their local region, as do the Campus Deans at Ballarat and Canberra. The Vice-Chancellor is also assisted by the Faculty Executive Deans, the Academic Registrar and Directors with national portfolios.
Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane is made up of six campuses each with its own unique history.The Brisbane Campus (McAuley at Banyo) commenced in 2003, replacing the former Brisbane Campus at Mitchelton. The 40-hectare site was formerly the Pius XII Provincial Seminary, with a history extending back to 1863.Dating back Mary MacKillop who founded the Congregation of the Sisters of St Joseph in South Australia in 1866 and moved to a cottage in Mount Street, North Sydney, in the 1880s the North Sydney Campus became part of ACU in 1990.The Strathfield Campus site was formerly part of land belonging to the St James Church of England in 1823. It became part of Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane in 1990.Signadou is derived from a legend associated with the founder of the Dominican Order who when praying for guidance in his life's work was given a "sign of God" (Signe de Dieu) directing him to teach the truth throughout the university towns of Europe. The Ballarat Campus had its beginnings in the establishment of the Aquinas Training College by the Ballarat East Sisters of Mercy in 1909 and continued in various guises until as the Institute of Catholic Education it handed responsibility for its operation over to ACU in 1990.The Melbourne Campus at Fitzroy, incorporating Central Hall, was established in 2000 after Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane's existing two Melbourne campuses (Mercy and Christ) were formally amalgamated. Mercy and Christ had both been colleges of the Victorian Institute of Catholic Education between 1975 and 1990.

Once you agree to the conditions on which the information is provided you can look for suitable accommodation.Ballarat Campus offers accommodation at Camillus Residential Village as well as in Australian Catholic University - ACU Brisbane Managed Residences. Camillus Residential Village is a modern complex of four, five and seven bedroom self-contained houses (78 places) where residents prepare their own meals. Accommodation for 2011 is $4,900 for the 40 week academic year, being $2,450 per Semester or $490 per month (10 months from February to November).
