Government Engineering College – Modasa was established in 1984 under the Directorate of Technical Education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar in North Gujarat region with a view of strengthening the industrial development in the region. The region consists of industrially potential areas of Panchmahal, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Mehsana and Patan district of Gujarat.
Government Engineering College – Modasa is affiliated to Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. It is also recognized by an apex body in technical education, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Government Engineering College – Modasa is accrediated by National Board of Accreditation. Institue is also running Center of Gujarat Knowledge Society.
The Government Engineering College – Modasa is presently offering Undergraduate courses leading to Bachelor of Engineering in the disciplines of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology and Computer Engineering.
The Government Engineering College – Modasa has reached library having total number of books over 20,513 costing more than Rs. 28 Lakhs. Presently, under the TEQIP every yerar books are being added to keep the readers abreast with the latest knowledge.
