International Maritime Academy - IMA Chennai is a section 25 registered private ltd company to run the maritime courses & established on the year 1999 in the Chennai city. The IMA is Approved by the Directorate General of shipping (DGS), Ministry of shipping, Government of India vides their letter No: 3-TR (48/99) on Dec 1999.
In order to provide the technical education in the field of Merchant Navy, International Maritime Academy - IMA Chennai was established. The courses being conducted at IMA is highly job oriented in the worldwide shipping companies. The young boys are motivated properly & trained in a disciplined manner to work with various national in the International shipping companies. IMA is the study center and affiliated with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu.
International Maritime Academy - IMA Chennai is located at Jamin Korattur, Pudhuchatram, Chennai. The library of College houses a wide range of books, is an excellent repertoire of business and Computer / IT periodicals and newsmagazines. The library has a separate reading room, a magazine section and a reference section. The books are updated continuously on the recommendations of the faculty members and library committee.
A large number of national and international journal are being subscribed by the library. International Maritime Academy - IMA Chennai library remains open for extended hours every day to facilitate the students in their academic pursuits. The library is also open on Saturdays and holidays for the benefit of the students and the faculty.International Maritime Academy - IMA Chennai has a conference room and seminar room which are well equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual and presentation tools. Well equipped library and laboratories are housed in the same building. Residential accommodation for students and faculty is also provided in the campus.
The Computer Lab of International Maritime Academy - IMA Chennai is equipped with state-of-the-art computer hardware & software. All terminals are networked through LAN. Internet connectivity is available for faculty as well as students. The Lab facility is extended to the students beyond working hours as well to facilitate research and assignment work. The labs are also open on Saturdays and holidays for the benefit of the students.

Facilities for indoor games like carom, chess & table tennis are provided. A gymnasium has been provided in the hostel to cater to the fitness needs of the students.College provides Diploma and Bachelor Degree program to the college students.
