Shri Vijay Mahantesh Arts, Science and Commerce College – Bagalkot was established in the year 1964, is the mother institution and the monument of unaging intellectual center of SVM Society. Further, the objective of the college is aimed at the poor people of Ilkal who should be provided with entrepreneurial environment, which is lifeblood of community development. Hence in the year 1977, “Commerce” faculty was added, and admitted innumerable students with open arms. Our college has most magnificent self-sufficient building with necessary infrastructure and human resource. The present strength of Degree College is seven hundred. Shri Vijay Mahantesh Arts, Science and Commerce College – Bagalkot offers different kind of undergraduate courses and Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Chemistry.
Shri Vijay Mahantesh Arts, Science and Commerce College – Bagalkot is situated at Ilkal, Bagalkot, Karnataka. The college library is located in the first floor of main building. It has about 40,000 books in different subjects including reference books. Library receives 14 daily Newspapers, 11 weekly Magazines, and 10 monthly Magazines. A committee headed by the senior members of staff monitors the working of the Library. New addition of books and periodicals are being attended as per the need and the budget allotted to meet the growing demands every year.
For out station students Shri Vijay Mahantesh Arts, Science and Commerce College – Bagalkot provide hostel facility for both Boys and Girls. Hostel for boys is situated in the college premises, away from the common din. It is two-floored building consisting of thirty-three rooms. All the rooms are well tarnished with cots, fans, tables and chairs. Each room is accommodated with students. The sufficient number of toilets and bathrooms with ample water and hot water facility is provided to the students. Hostel arrangement for girls has been provided for the out station students in the premises with all the required facilities. Two hostels are run by our “Society”.
The NSS unit of Shri Vijay Mahantesh Arts, Science and Commerce College – Bagalkot has been working successfully with its own objectives. The student welfare officer looks into the grievances of the students and try to provide remedies for such grievances. In addition to this the college has an Alumni Association to look into the development of the college. NCC is great platform for grooming of our students. Shri Vijay Mahantesh Arts, Science and Commerce College – Bagalkot students have been part of many National and State level activities of NCC. Many cadets attended the RD Camps, NCC, TSC, ATC and other camps, We are proud to share that many of our cadets have been serving in Indian Army and Police Dept. Presently Lt. M.S.Badiger is ably performing NCC activities.
