Union Christian College – Ri Bhoi started as far back as August 1952, is a joint educational Project of the Protestant Churches affiliated to the then Assam Christian Council, now known as the North East India Christian Council. The College was declared accredited in November itself with "B" grade status. The College seeks to provide sound secular education in a Christian setting and to prepare young men and women capable of providing an effective leadership to their societies, churches and governments when they go back to their respective areas. It offers different kind of undergraduate, short term and career oriented courses.
Union Christian College – Ri Bhoi is situated at Barapani, Ri-Bhoi District Meghalaya. A library is a valuable storehouse holding within if ‘rich garners of full-ripen’d grain’ of knowledge in all its manifestations. From its inception, UCC recognized the fact that a library is a vitally important part of an educational institution. Union Christian College – Ri Bhoi library was opened on the 7th February 1967 by Dr. James Sprigg, Overseas Secretary, American Baptist Foreign Missionary Society. The library contains over 18,000 volumes in different subjects, including Theology and Religion, besides a large number(over 90) of magazines and journals, not only in English, but in different local languages and dialects as well.
The NCC is one of the youth organization which functions to develop character, secular outlook, comradeship, discipline, leadership and ideas of selfless service amongst the youth. The campus trainings are carried out in Union Christian College – Ri Bhoi regularly with the help of local resources. The Annual Training Camps (ATC) held every year being organized in Umroi Cantonment Camp. Cadets took part in these camps being awarded with B and C certificates.The college has got an NCC Army wing under Meghalaya BN and extend support to the NCC in all their activities.
The NSS Volunteers of UCC Unit participated in various activities viz. Special Camp at the adopted village, Umsaw khwan, Pre - Republic Day Parade Camp, University Advisory Committee meeting, Blood donation programmes, Campus cleaning and white washing, Advocacy workshop on HIV/AIDS, Tree plantation programme etc. Union Christian College – Ri Bhoi unit also conducted one day Free Eye checkup cum awareness programme for the college community and six neighboring villages. The college extend support to the NSS in all their activities and uphold the motto of the NSS "Not Me But You".
The fitness club sponsored by ministry of HRD New Delhi, opened the oppurtunity for the students to qualified in physical fitness so as to meet the challenges in terms of sports and other extra curricular activities during their stay in the campus. Union Christian College – Ri Bhoi extend support to the club in terms of finance and human resource etc.
Sports and games are essential for the development of a healthy person. Students are encouraged to take part in sports and games and made to understand that ‘a healthy mind resides in a healthy body’. Union Christian College – Ri Bhoi Sports and Games club is established to develop athleticism, to keep students healthy and in good spirit. This club provides specialist coaching and training opportunities for committed performers and empower them to compete in inter-college and state level competition. The college provides scope, financial resources for all their activities.
Union Christian College – Ri Bhoi provides career development and placement services. Individual assistance with resume preparation and job interview strategies are an integral part of the service. Career job fairs, on campus employment presentation and recruitment are also organized on a regular basis. Union Christian College take up the initiative to organize the cell in order to empower women students to face challenges of the modern society. The college extend support in all their activities.
