I purchased a C140W chart plotter and there is no audio alarm, only graphic display. The control buttons are extremely difficult to find. I have spent many frustrating minutes at night fumbling around trying to press buttons. Most of all is the switch assembly(I do not know what it is called) that has up, down, right, left, and enter in the center of a rotatably ring. This has got to be the most insanely stupid thing Raymarine has ever done. Most probably the creation of some idiot on a drafting board with no comprehension of real life practicality. After a month's use the center fell out. I used adhesive tape to hold it in and operated that way for about a year. Then the plastic inner parts crumbled and fell apart. I now have to stick my finger inside it and try to poke the right push button switch, there are five of them and getting the right one is not always easy. Even before the thing fell apart it was not easy to push the correct function without pushing more than one.
I purchased an open array radar and C12o chart plotter in 2005, but due to delay in ship construction couldn't install it until after warranty expired. T began trying to operate it in 2007, but it would notwork. Since then I have spent eight years trying to get it repaired, but to no avail. I have sent the radar to Raymarine Australia twice, the C120 three times, both to Raymarine USA once. A total of six technicians/engineers have been involved, but it still does not work. I have spent enough money on repairs and shipping to buy a new system, but this radar has never worked since the day I purchased it. I am afraid that purchasing a new Raymarine Radar would be a waste of time, but since all my other instruments are Raymarine I hesitate to buy another brand.
