The establishment of the Advanced Technical Training Centre – ATTC Singtam is one of the major initiatives that are taken by the Government of Sikkim for the development of technical education in the State. This polytechnic has been set up under the World Bank assisted “Third Technician Education Project” of the Government of India. The State Government envisages the polytechnic to be model institute with the latest technology and facilities as “Centre of Excellence”. The establishment of this polytechnic is designed to address the need for employable skills to be imbibed among the youth of the State. This will address the major constraint for development in the State as also for seeking potential employment outside the State.
In Advanced Technical Training Centre – ATTC Singtam the curriculum offered by this polytechnic has been framed by Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) Bangalore, which is a very well known and highly regarded entity which operates a large number of similar training centers primarily in South India. NTTF Training Centers have been awarded ISO 9001:2000 Quality Systems Certification by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI). The Diplomas and the Post Diplomas issued by NTTF are highly valued by major industries within the country and even abroad. The Diplomas issued by Advanced Technical Training Centre – ATTC Singtam will be jointly certified by the Board of Technical Education, Sikkim and NTTF. On completion of their courses, the students are also assured of getting placement in industries of repute within the country.
The courses offered by the polytechnic have been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The Institute is equipped with the latest equipment, machineries and computers and supported by a team of qualified and trained faculty. The Institute have a variety of software and learning resources, computer based tutorials etc. and a very well stocked library with a wide selection of books, journals etc.

Computer Facilities of Advanced Technical Training Centre – ATTC Singtam provides a wide variety of facilities for academic and administrative use throughout the Institute. The service supports an integrated network across all sites with Wi-Fi connectivity. More than 100 networked PCs are available for student use. These computers give access to a comprehensive range of latest software package like Linux, C, C++, Visual Studio, Photoshop, and flash, Solid Works, Pro E, AutoCAD 2005, Master CAM and many more. The IT Resource Centers provide a mixture of teaching and Open Access areas. Users also have access to comprehensive documentation, ranging from simple introductory guides to detailed descriptions of languages and packages.
Internet Lab of Advanced Technical Training Centre – ATTC Singtam offers a comfortable, quiet research environment with a wide range of contemporary research sources in various media and the fullest access to the information sources located worldwide which enables the student to remain abreast of research and development in specific subjects areas. The Internet lab has high speed broadband connectivity. The Lab seats 20 students, one per computer, and each with independent access to the Internet.
Library of Advanced Technical Training Centre – ATTC Singtam is equipped with books, journals and research material catering to the needs of the students and faculty. There are about 7,000 and above books in the library.
Workshop Block of Advanced Technical Training Centre – ATTC Singtam spread along the basement of the Institute is ATTC Workshop Block, equipped with the most modern tool room facilities. Students actually get the industrial production know how, when these student get trained by the expert faculty in the year span of their stay.
Other Lab facilities of Advanced Technical Training Centre – ATTC Singtamis also equipped with other labs like Electrical, Digital and Electronics, Power Electronics and Microprocessor and Microcontroller. A special LRU C (Learning Resource Utilization Centre) has also been established to impart knowledge using latest technologies such as LCD (DLP) projectors, Smart Board, Plasma TV, over head projectors using several course related CBTs, DVDs, VCDs and Transparencies. Teaching at ATTC is highly practical and focused on what the industry needs as it is evolved through constant interaction with leading professionals who are a part of the Industry and Academic Advisory Boards.
