Agricultural College – Bapatla was started on 11th July 1945 by the erstwhile Government of composite Madras State on the recommendations of the Post War Reconstruction Committee. Agricultural College – Bapatla is the oldest among 12 Agricultural Colleges in Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU). Agricultural College – Bapatla was started with the aim of imparting Agricultural education for under graduate students and to turn out the Agricultural Graduates to man various post war reconstruction schemes.
Agricultural College – Bapatla was affiliated to Andhra University on the recommendations of Late (Sir) C.R. Reddy, Leader, and Inspection Team to the College and was under the administrative control of the Directorate of Agriculture of erstwhile Madras State. Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) was established June 12, 1964. Since then, the Agricultural College – Bapatla expanded rapidly both academically and physically with the addition of postgraduate and doctoral programmers. Many infrastructure facilities were added in terms of buildings and equipment for improvising the academic status in Agricultural Education. Agricultural College – Bapatla celebrated its Silver Jubilee during 1970-71, Golden Jubilee during 1994-95 and Diamond Jubilee during 2006.
