- The Barefoot college was initiated by Bunker Roy in the year 1972.
- Since its initiation in the year 1972, the primary ambition of the Barefoot college has been to work with agenda, overburdened and poverty-stricken rural people, spending their lives on less than one dollar per day, and get them out of the poverty line with honesty and self respect.
- The idea was initiating a college in rural area in India and the college was built by and particularly for the poor people.
