Devaswom Board College - Kottayam is the second educational institution of its kind managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board, was established in the year 1965. Devaswom Board College - Kottayam had its affiliation to the Kerala University in the the beginning and when the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam was established in 1983, the college came under its jurisdiction. The institution initially started functioning as a Junior College in 1965 with 6 batches of Pre-degree classes and a students strength of 480.
In 1972 the Devaswom Board College - Kottayam was upgraded as a Degree College with the induction of BA Malayalam, Politics and BSc. Botany. The College now offers Degree courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Hindi and Commerce also. We also have Post Graduate courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Malayalam.
The student strength of the Devaswom Board College - Kottayam at present is nearly 1150. There are fifty six members on the Teaching Staff and 43 members on the Non-Teaching Staff.

Devaswom Board College - Kottayam library consists of the General Library and the Departmental Libraries. The library is open to all the members of the college It will remain open between 9.00 a.m. to 4.30.p.m. on all the working days. Books will be issued only on production of borrower’s ticket. The ticket is not transferable. Books of Reference Section will not be let out. Books for various Entrance Examinations are available in the Reference section. Books borrowed by students shall not be retained for more than a week from the date of issue. Failure to this may be charged with a fine of Rs-1/-per day. Members, on receiving books must examine them and report to the librarian any damage found therein. If they fail to do so they will be held responsible for any damage detected afterwards. Any mark made in a book will be considered a damage.
Books borrowed from the Library may be recalled at any time. Devaswom Board College - Kottayam students shall surrender their identity card as and when requested by the library staff. Private books and personal belongings of the students are to be kept at the entrance before entering the library. No student is allowed to carry printed matter when they enter into the stock room.
