There has been a long felt need of establishing a new Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri in the dist. of Jalpaiguri with a view to giving scope to the educated youth for acquiring Bachelor of Education degree to enhance their scale and competency to join in teaching profession. Such degree now in a knowledge based society may be treated for an essential prerequisite for becoming a teacher in a Secondary/Higher secondary school. The Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri has played a pioneering role in launching various professional job related course to help students interested in acquiring special skills to enhance their learning and earning capabilities. Keeping proper emphasis on the need of the society and to meet the future challenges in the field of education the new college is established at "Swastik Bhawan", Muktipara. The College is managed by a registered Society named Birsha Munda Seva Samiti.
The organizing committee of Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri purchased a plot of land measuring 1 Acre. by a registered deed of sale being registered in the office of Addl. District Sub Registrar, Falakata, Jalpaiguri recorded in Book No. 1 Volume No. 3, Pages 323 to 328 bearing No. 255 of 2005 and the construction of a new building is in progress on the aforesaid plot of land to be used for educational purposes, Approved by Competent Authority. The plot of land is situated at Dist. Jalpaiguri under subdivision Alipurduar Police Station: Falakata, BL&LRO- Falakata, under Mouja - Jaichand Pur, JL No. 93, Khatiyan No. 88/1, Dag No.- 220 the said plot of land is about 6 KM form Falakata Town on the left side of the state highway leading to Jalpaiguri town to Falakata Town.
To construct the Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri building permission is already granted from the Guabar Nagar Gram Panchayat Samiti vide memo no. 132/G/05 Dated 15/11/2005. And nearly 10,000 Sq. Ft. construction of the building is going on under the supervision by an Experienced Civil Engineer.
The distance of the Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri from bus stand near about 1/2 km. and distance form rail station near about 1.5 km. from this college campus (Swastika Bhawan), Muktipara, Jalpaiguri.
The aims of the Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri is to impart proper training to the educated youth in the field of education, to enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose and spirit of Secondary/Higher Secondary Education, to Enable the trainees to meet the future challenges in the field of Education and to develop communication skills and use modern information Technology for School Purpose.
In the Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri campus, There are adequate number of class rooms, halls, laboratory space for conducting instructional activities for the students, separate room for Principal and faculty members, office for the administrative staffs, common room female students and a store laboratory. Laboratories are well equipped with required apparatus.
The Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri has an enriched library with sufficient text and reference books and journals including Teachers education as specified by N.C.T.E. Students are issued tow cards for borrowing books. The home issue card permits the borrowing of one book at a time for a period of seven days only. Reference books may use on reference cards for study in the reading room for the day only.
Girls Hostel facility is also available within the Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri campus. The well equipped laboratories are available of Geography, Science, Work Education Lab and Computer. One Public Telephone is installed in the campus in favors of students. One common room is available inside the campus. Photocopying Machine is installed for usage of the Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri students.
Magazine is published within a regular interval. Students are entitled to contribute their various writings (viz, articles, essays, features. stories, poems, travelogue etc.) to ameliorate their creative ingenuity through the magazine.
Holding annual sports for the students in every winter season is a special feature of the Falakata B Ed College – Jalpaiguri . Every year one cultural programme is arranged by the college authority with the active participation of the Students.
