HMS Institute of Technology - Tumkur was established by the H. M. S Education Society (Regd.) during 1997- 98 with the objective of providing Technical Education. Permission is accorded by the State Government and it is affiliated to Visweswaraya Technological University, Belgaum, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Courses Accredited by NBA.
HMS Institute of Technology - Tumkur is situated in Tumkur - 60 K.M from Bangalore towards Mumbai, where all kinds of Institutions like, MBBS, BDS, Engineering, BPT, DPT, Open Universities, MCA and MBA are situated. The Campus is well laid out on a stretch of over 30 Acres of land with beautiful landscaping. All the Buildings are architecturally designed to suit the natural rolling terrain. Natural surroundings and meticulously maintained pollution free green campus leaves ever lasting memory in the minds of students.
HMS Institute of Technology - Tumkur has laboratories, Workshops and Computer Centers are fully equipped with the latest equipment as prescribed in the syllabus of various branches of Engineering. Good coaching and instructions by qualified Teachers and Instructors are made available to the students. Laboratory Manuals are prepared by the Teachers concerned and distributed to all the students to facilitate easy learning of the subjects. The foundation stone for the Campus was laid down by the former Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri. S.M. Krishna. College provides Bachelor degree and Master Degree to the students.

Library is the focal point of HMS Institute of Technology - Tumkur, situated in the new Block. The institute is giving attention to the library, with books covering various branches of Science & Engineering, which include Text Books, Recommended Books, Hand Books, Dictionaries, Data Books etc., the library subscribes to many Technical Periodicals covering all disciplines of Engineering. In addition, many General Magazines and newspapers are being subscribed to.
HMS Institute of Technology - Tumkur is running separate hostels for Boys & Girls. The hostels are managed by a Warden assisted by a Deputy Warden. The Principal of H.M.S Institute of Technology is the Chairman of the Hostel Committees. The Hostel rooms are provided with necessary furniture. Every hostel is adequately equipped with a vegetarian mess to it. The students are strictly abided by the rules and regulations of the Hostels. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. The Institute has several buses operating from various parts of the city to the Campus. Separate bus facility is also available for students staying in Hostels located outside the Campus and in the City.
HMS Institute of Technology - Tumkur offers facilities for Sports and Extra Curricular activities. Students are encouraged to participate in inter-collegiate sports programmes, co-curricular and cultural activities. A separate indoor sports center is available in the Campus and in the Hostels. The canteen is well panned and hygienically maintained to cater to the needs of day Scholars, Hostellers and Staff. It serves nitrous and balanced food. It is a place to relax.
HMS Institute of Technology - Tumkur provides placement facility. The Placement and Training Department also conducts extensive on-campus recruitment programmes, workshops, seminars and individual career and job search assistance. The placement session of the college starts right from the fifth semester (i.e.) from the month of August every year. The college has conference and recruitment halls for conducting pre-placement talks, tests, group discussions and interviews. All modern facilities like data projector for presentation, OHP, public address system, LAN for online computer based tests etc. are available to assist the recruitment process. Many multinational companies are invited to recruit our students.
