I M Nanavati Law College, established in 1958, is among the oldest colleges of legal education in the state. I M Nanavati Law College is situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Gujarat Law Society fixes the need for starting a Law college in the walled city of Ahmedabad in the year 1958, and City Law College came on the legal arena to render this useful Social Service. Thus college was popularly known as “CITY LAW COLLEGE” since its foundation. In the year 1975 Late Shri I. M. Nanavati, the Honorable Secretary, Gujarat Law Society generously donated handsome amount and the college was renamed as I M Nanavati Law College. Since its inception the college has rendered invaluable service in the cause of legal education and successfully completed 50 years of its existence. I M Nanavati Law College crest and the motto comprise the traditional picture of the blind folded lady who stands for Justice and Law. I M Nanavati Law College offered three year Law courses. The institute imparts instruction in the course leading to the degrees of LL.B. (General) at the end of two academic years and LL.B. (Special at the end of three academic years) each academic year is divided in to two semesters. The institute has recognized Post–Graduate Centre imparting instruction in Group: B Criminology Law leading to the degree of LL.M. at the end of two academic years.
I M Nanavati Law College has had the benefit of the guiding vision of men of eminence and experience such as Principal Mr. D.D. Desai, Principal Mr. M. D. Pancholi, Principal Mr. V.C.Patel, Principal Ms. Jyotshnaben Yagnic K Rathod, and Principal Ms. Raxaben S. Desai as its principals. Principal L.S.Pathak (June 2003 till date) has been contributing also to the development of the faculty of law, Gujarat University as the Member of the Board of Academic Council, Chairman of the Board of Studies in Crime as well as member of the Faculty since February 2003.
I M Nanavati Law College actively holds moot courts for its students and organizes inter. Collegiate moot court competition too. We also organize elocution and debate competitions. Our students have participated with distinction and have won prizes at the various prestigious moot court elocution and debate competitions. Result of the I M Nanavati Law College for the last 10 years is more than 60 percentages. Many students who graduated from our college are today working as judges, advocates. Few of them are MP, MLA, Administrative Officers and occupying important portfolios. The sprawling campus provides quit setting for intellectual pursuit of young and mature students.
