Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Post Graduate Studies – KMCPGS Pondicherry was started in 1989 by the Government of Puducherry with the aim of the Post graduate and Research level education must be developed in the Union teritory of Puducherry. It was started with 11 displicines in Arts, Science and Commerce at the Post graduate level. The successive progress has turned this Post Graduate institution into a fully fledged research institution. The good performance of this Centre has enabled it to find a place at both National and International levels. Within a span of 19 years of inception, educated more than 3000 Post Graduate students, about 600 M.Phil., and 65 Ph.D. scholars.
Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Post Graduate Studies - KMCPGS Pondicherry is situated at Airport Road, Lawspet, Puducherry. Encouragement is given to Post Graduate students to take part in NET conducted by UGC and CSIR fellowship test. Special coaching classes are being conducted by the Centre to take up the above test under the minority and SC/ST scheme of the UGC. Research scholars of this institution are awarded the fellowship by the Departments of Education & Art and Culture of the Government of Puducherry in the names of poets Bharathiyar and Bharathidasan.

Beyond its immediate responsibility to provide the information services and resources that support the courses of study offered at the college, the library has the broader mission of fostering in our students the importance and necessity of lifelong learning.
