Maharshi Dayanand University is a public educational institution that was formed in the year of 1976. The main campus of the university is located in Rohtak, Haryana, India which covers an area of 1,200 acres. The University is recognized by NAAC. Features of MDU
MDU is one of the reputed University in India and its full name is Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.
MDU, slso known as Rohtak University, Rohtak, came into existence by an Act No. 25 of 1975 of the Haryana Legislative Assembly in 1976 with the prime objective to promote inter-disciplinary higher education and research in the fields of environmental, ecological and life sciences.
MDU was designated as Maharshi Dayanand University in 1977 after the name of a great visionary and social reformer,
Maharshi Dayanand.
MDU had a unitary and residential character and achieved the feat of affiliating University in November 1978. In the year 1983,
MDU had secured the recognition from the University Grants Commission
(UGC).
