Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior was established in 1957 by His Highness Late Sir Jiwaji Rao Scindia, Maharaja, Erstwhile state of Gwalior with the prime objective of providing Technical Education at undergraduate and post graduate levels alongwith conducting research activities. The foundation stone of the Institute was laid by Late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the then President of India on 20th October, 1956 and the building was inaugurated on 11th December, 1964 by Late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India.
The Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior started initially with B.E. Courses in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Later on Post Graduate and Ph.D. Course in applied Sciences were introduced 1967. The B.E. in discipline Electronics Engineering was started in 1981. Undergraduate course in Architecture was introduced in 1984. The Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior took the lead in the region to start Post graduate course in Computer application (M.C.A.) in 1986.
The central library of the Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior is now fully renovated and is completely modernized. The library runs on a library management system, with reference section being fully computerised. the issuance and return of the books is done using the information system and the books are being through barcode. The main issue and return of the books will soon be computerised after the completion of on going data entry of the books.
The Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior is currently having Under-graduate programmes in eight branches of engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Information Technology, Chemical, Bio-Tech) along with one under-graduate programme in Architectural Engineering.
The Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior is also having post graduate programmes in Electrical, Civil, Electronics and Mechanical engineering and Computer Application. Shortly we are going to open the additional branches in our Institute such as, Environmental Technology, Polymer Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology & Bio-informatics. We have achieved academic autonomy from Rajiv Gandhi Proudhyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal and our immediate dream is to achieve Deemed University status for our Institute. The necessary steps are already being taken.
The establishment of Training and Placement Cell at the Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior was with the view to encourage the student to devlop their skill for achieving greater success in various fields .The Training and Placement Cell of the Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior is a forum for industry -institute interaction and with Eminent Personalities from the industry and other institute of the country .Besides this ,a number of workshops on personality developments are arranged for the overall development of the students

The Training and Placement Cell also arranges various Technical symposia like hardware and software application ,Technical paper presentation on the emerging fields with a view to bring out the technical expertise within the student.The Madhav Institute of Technology and Science - Gwalior has signed number of MOU`s with the industrial houses and institute of the country in order to facilitate the training of the student.These training activities help the student to keep pace with the changing technological development of the world.
