National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research NITTTR Chandigarh was established in 1967 by the Government of India and is the one of the four establishments for the promotion of technical education in North India. In beginning, it shared collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Government for seven year. There is a panel of Board of Governors who manage NITTR. This is an autonomous institute in which the Director is designated as the head.
National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research NITTTR offers Master level courses in Engineering Education,Manufacturing Technology and Modular M.Tech/M.E. Programmes. The Master Courses which are available in regular and modular forms are Master of Technology in Engineering Education,Master of Engineering in Manufacturing Technology,Master of Engineering in Construction Technology and Management,Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering,Master of Engineering in Instrumentation and Control. All these courses are being run for teachers and administrators of technical institutions, professionals and general candidates.
National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research also established the department of Rural Development and the department of Entrepreneurship Development to help polytechnics in putting their efforts towards training manpower and spread information in these areas. National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research NITTTR has 65 faculty in college including 16 professors, 23 Lecturers and 26 Assistant Professors.
The residential campuses of NITTTR are located in Sector 26, 29 and 42. It has the total strength of 220 which includes technical, administrative and other supporting staff. The institutes has well maintained infrastructure. The Library at NITTTR is the home of the vast collection of books, journals and nonbook material in science, engineering, technology, humanities, social sciences and management. It upgrades separate collections of Reference Books, Standards, Pamphlets, Bound volumes of journals, Technical Reports, Theses, Compact Discs and Microforms.
