The internet service providing was started by the company in the year 1997 with three dial -in 33.6k modems.
Orcon was purchased by a state-owned telecommunication company known as Kordia in June 12, 2007. Later the company was sold by Kordia to a Warren Hurst's business group on April 2013. CallPlus bought the company in June 2014. The company is also considered as the New Zealand's first internet service provider which provided ADSL2+ commercially after it had launched its ADSL2+ service in March 2008. Fiber as a part of the Ultra-Fast Broadband was also provided by the Orcon for the first time in New Zealand. A
