Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science - SGSITS Indore was founded in 1952 as a small Institute that has now grown into a top technological Institution in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Taking into consideration the class of the manpower produced by the Institute, a high power committee of the government of India has ranked it 16th in India with IITs and NITs. While acknowledging its academic achievements, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and University grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi decided to award the Institute with the status of an Autonomous Institution in 1989.

Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science - SGSITS Indore has services like a Co-operative stores, Dispensary, Bank, Canteen, Staff Quarters, Hostels, Gymnasium, Sports Complex, etc. The institute also has 4 boys hostel and 1 girls hostel within the campus. It runs a numerous cells and departments in the campus to help the students. These cells and departments include Computer Center, Centre for Continuing Education Programme, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Training and Placement Cell, Central Workshop and Management Cell.
The Central Library of
Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science - SGSITS Indore was set up in 1955 with a tiny collection of only 429 books. Today, it earns the status of the largest college library in central India in the field of technology and science education. It has high cost standard reference and text - books, world reputed International and National research journals, theses, project reports, audio/visual and electronic learning resources in all fields of technical education. It also has the literature of social sciences and humanities.
Presently,
Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science - SGSITS Indore provides 10-Undergraduate and 17 Post Graduate programs with a yearly intake of 660 and 375 students respectively including Master’s Degree in Applied Sciences and Pharmacy and Ph.D. levels programs. M.C.A. course has yearly intake of 60 students. The institute also offers 5 Part Time degree courses with an intake of 30 students in each. The Institute is countrywide known center for running research work leading to Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Applied Science and Pharmacy. The Ministry of HRD of Govt. of India has recognized the Civil Engg. Department of the Institute as a Center for quality development (QIP) for Ph.D. degree and Electrical Engg. Department for M.E degree. More departments are expected to have this recognition shortly.
The Training and Placement Cell in
Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science - SGSITS Indore plays an important role and is becoming a main department of the Institute. The placements of large number of potential employers are called during the year and the various companies visit regularly. The aim of the T&P Cell is to look for a 100% employment of all the students as a result it follows policy of ' One Person One Job '.
