Velammal College of Engineering and Technology – VCET Madurai is founded by Shri.M.V.Muthuramalingam, a Professional Engineer and the Chairman of the Velammal Educational Trust, Chennai.

He is strengthened by a team of richly experienced Heads of the various departments. The College has on its roll richly experienced and well qualified faculty in all disciplines. Velammal College of Engineering and Technology – VCET Madurai is located in Madurai – Rameswaram High Road, Velammal Nagar, Viraganoor, Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Library of Velammal College of Engineering and Technology – VCET Madurai contains 11852 volumes of books on different subjects with 4142 titles. There are 31 international and 72 national periodicals. The digital resources include 1038 compact disks and 18 floppy disk all the members of teaching, non-teaching staff and students are members of the library, which follows open access system.
Hostel facility of Velammal College of Engineering and Technology – VCET Madurai have separate hostel for boys and girls. The hostel can accommodate 600 boys and 300 girls. Two students stay in one room. Single room accommodation is given to the final years and PG Students. The Mess is spacious with a dining hall and kitchen. Separate seating arrangements are made for both boys and girls, as well as for Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians.
Transport facility of Velammal College of Engineering and Technology – VCET Madurai buses and vans are provided for the staff and students from all parts of the city. The college provides free transport facility for the teaching staff. Special buses are available after college hours for the convenience of the staff and students involved in sports and other activities.

It is headed by Prof. L. Andal, and is assisted by Staff and Students Placement coordinators who lead a team of placement representatives from various courses of study.
