Mathabhanga College was established on the 1st of September, 1969. This College is permanently affiliated to the University of North Bengal and included under section 2 (F) and 12 (B) of the University Grants Commission Act. Mathabhanga College is managed by a Governing Body (West Bengal Act XXVII of 1961) under the control of the D. P. I., West Bengal.
Mathabhanga College a promising educational institute for undergraduate studies, is situated about 1.5 Km away on the SH 12A to the west of Mathabhanga town. Mathabhanga College possesses 10.78 acres of land. It has one two-storeyed building, two one-storeyed buildings, a rich Library, a Book Bank, a Boys' Hostel, a play ground & a pond.
Mathabhanga College Library caters to the need of students and members of the College Staff. The Number of books in the Central Library is 19,000 approximately. An Open Access System to the students in the central reading room. Moreover, the College Library has an intention to provide photocopy services to the students shortly. The Library is kept open throughout the year except on public holidays and vacations. Services of TV & CD/DVD player are also available.
Mathabhanga College has a Boys' Hostel on its campus. The Hostel can accommodate 25 students. Applicants are selected for admission, taking into account their distance from home & inconvenience of communication. For accommodation in the Hostel the students are asked to contact the Superintendent Dr. Jhadeswar Ghosh, Assistant Professor of Philosophy.
Students' Health Home is an organization managed by a Governing Body. Its objective is to offer medical treatment to students free of cost. Mathabhanga College is a member of Coochbehar District Regional Students' Health Home. At the time of admission the College collects Rs. 4/- from each student. A student of this College can avail himself/herself of this facility.
N. C. C. Unit of Mathabhanga College has been running since 1978. It is open to both boys and girls of the College. Interested students are advised to contact the Associate N. C. C. Officer Dr. Shyam Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit. The College has an alumni association known as Mathabhanga College Alumni Association (MCAA). The alumni hold prominent position in the society. It is functioning under its Secretary Dr. Jyotsna Saha, Associate Professor of Philosophy.
