These include:-The OM Book, or Online Music Book, is a unique self-paced learning tool that students use to learn and practice the material prior to virtual classes. OM Books are divided into chapters, and for each virtual class the teacher will assign pages within selected chapters for the students to review. These pages can include instructional video from renowned artists, background information, music notations, quizzes, recorders for practice, and other multimedia content. 30 minute virtual classes are held once or twice weekly depending on the course, and provide an opportunity for the student to practice what they have learned from the OM Book with an instructor and a small group of students.
At Shankar Mahadevan Academy – Bangalore, Classes are conducted using video conferencing software and students participate through use of a computer, microphone headset, and webcam. Students can review the instructor videos and notations in the OM Book and then record their voice using recording tools, providing unlimited singing practice. These recordings can also be submitted for expert feedback. For classical music courses, a final assessment is given at the end of every course, with feedback provided by the instructor.
