Kalam Polytechnic Institute – Berhampur was established in the year 2008 under the patronage of Utkal Insurance and Management Educational Trust (UIMET). Utkal Insurance And Management educational Trust was established in Aug 2006 by a group of visionaries with the sole objective of promoting technical education in Orissa with a view to support the needs of industry and society at large by providing due opportunity to the people of Orissa, to upgrade their economic standard and maintain a better human life.

Computer LAB and Internet Facilities of Kalam Polytechnic Institute – Berhampur possesses well equipped and up-to-date computer laboratory with 60 number of systems with the latest hardware and software like DOS, Microsoft XP, Linux, MS Office, Oracle, Visual Basic, Turbo C, ANSI C and other programming languages which provides computing facility for the students as per State Council of Technical Education & Vocational Training (SCTE&VT), Orissa, Bhubaneswar. We have the best of the expert to manage them. Our computer center PCs running Microsoft Windows XP as well as Linux on top of Intel Pentium IV processors and matching supporting hardware and peripherals. The entire computer center is connected with high-speed Ethernet network switch having capacity of 10/100/1000 MBPS. KITP computer laboratory has a 2 MBPS broadband internet connection and is accessible for 24 hours. The broadband internet connectivity is established through high throughput switches with complete redundancy ensuring that the network is live at all instances.

The Central Library of KIT (P) is presently located on the Second Floor of the main building.

Library has spacious reading with 60 seating capacity and reference sections in addition to circulation counter. Copies of most books and reference books are available for use inside the library only.
