Sadiya College - Tinsukia being set up in 1982 in the Sadiya Sub-Division - the most backward region in the state facing serious communicational bottle-neck due to its extraordinary location under Tinsukia District, has come a long way in imparting education to the academically and economically disadvantaged students and promoting socio-cultural relation among the diverse ethnic group.
Since the day of its inception it caters the needs of the students of the area and students of the border state Arunachal Pradesh as well. It also acts as an inspiration to the local people that a seemed to be an impossible dream. Sadiya College - Tinsukia is initially started in the 'Tribal Belt and Block' by the efforts of the local people of the area with a view to imparting higher education to the students who could not afford to go elsewhere on account of poverty and backwardness. The college is taken over under deficit grant aid system in 1989.
Sadiya College - Tinsukia has at present six Under Graduate Departments and one subject; i.e. Business management in the Higher Secondary level (Dept. of Commerce). The under graduate departments are : Assamese, Economics, English, History, Political Science and Sociology. There only one computers at present in the college. One is installed for the official work. There are two common rooms for boys and girls respectively for their relaxation during off hours. Their is a filtered drinking water facility for them in the girls common room. There are attached toilets with the girls common room. The college has well furnished classroom. The class room are accommodated with fan and spacious seating arrangements.
Sadiya College - Tinsukia has a well stocked library with Text Book, Reference Books, Journals, periodicals and dailies. The college provide hostel facilities to the students. It does not provide various facilities to the students due to lack of fund. Limited facilities like electricity, water, and a TV Set for recreation are provided to the students.
Sadiya College - Tinsukia has a student union with an elected executive body. It organize Fresher social, Annual Sports, Literary, Cultural and Debating competitions, there by open opportunities to students to develop their extra curricular activities and skill. To make the students academically active and to build their career, the teachers and non teaching staff provide constant need based support to the students. The teachers also keep touch with the students by counseling personally and advising the students on their strength and weakness.
