Having successfully instituted a world-class Post Sea Training Facility, Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies - SIMS Lonavala embarked on another visionary training project in starting a world-class Pre Sea Training Facility for deck and engine cadets. Located at Lonavala, Maharashtra, this campus complements the present post sea training offered in Govandi, Mumbai. Students will be given training that is over and above mandatory international standards and successful graduates can look forward to a rewarding seafaring career in the maritime industry.
Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies - SIMS Lonavala is situated at Village Takwe Khurd, Mumbai-Pune Highway (NH4), Lonavala, Dist. Pune, Maharashtra. The facility has been operational since 1st Aug, 2005 with its pioneer batch comprising 40 deck cadets selected strictly on merit. The first batch of Graduate Marine Engineering Scheme training started from October 2005.
The curriculum for the cadet training, aims to provide the candidates with the essential theoretical and practical training so as to prepare them to endure and excel in the life faced at sea and to inspire in them a sense of devotion to duty, feeling of good will & comradeship - essential traits needed for a life at sea. Training is purely residential during the shore training and the students must stay in the hostel on campus. Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies - SIMS Lonavala campus will also provide all necessary amenities including daily catering. Each hostel room has an attached bathroom and is fully furnished.
