The Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam was set up in the year 1980. It has since grown into an educational complex comprising of the Diploma Engineering, Master of Business Administration, Library and Information Science, ITC and Degree Engineering. This group is the first ever educational Institution imparting technical education in the state of Orissa in the private sector. Late Sri Brundaban Nayak’s primary objective was local development in the modern context. To our greatest misfortune, Sri Brundaban Nayak passed away in 1984 when he had many more vision yet to come true. We are striving to make his dream a reality.

A fully Equipped Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam library has the latest journals in engineering & technology besides, more than 10,000 volumes catering to the cholastic pursuits of students. The Library has a computerized management system is under process which enabling both the students and staff members to get the information about the library on a button touch. A digital library has been installed for faster access to study materials on the web. Besides the books we have spacious reading rooms which remain open for 12hrs everyday.
The Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam provides hostel facility for both boys and girls with the following features such as separate Hostels for Boys and Girls with excellent catering facilities at affordable rates, discipline is the catch word in these student friendly abodes, carefully selected as Superintendent look after the borders acting as friends, philosopher and guide to the boarders, problems, if any, are solved promptly by the immediate intervention of the Management, every hostel is provided with a telephone, and acquaguard, outdoor Physical training programs are provided through well trained P.E.T.. In the Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam campus there is a well equipped Gymnasium is provided in the premises of the Hostel for indoor physical exercises.
The Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam has three local area network (LAN) Lab are available one of them is in the C, & Data structure Lab., CAD/CAM Lab and internet Lab are available. The main computer center and the other is connected to different departments and the library. All the departments and the central store are connected from the server. The LAN, installed in the main computer center, consists of 51 nodes and two servers including multimedia.
The internet lab of Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam facilities net browsing, for up-to-date Information in their fields of interest. All machines are LAN connected to the main switch panel through CAT5 cabling. This lab, one of the hot spots for the students on the campus, 128 kbps through BSNL Lease Line 10KVA online ups & WI-FI Internet is enable in the college campus.
The Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam has two banks situated in the Ankushpur campus, State Bank of India and Andhra Bank. Both the banks are regular branches in the campus and are housed in separate buildings. Application forms for important national level exams such as JEE, GATE and CAT are sold in these banks.

Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam pre-placement Talks are organized from August to November and campus interviews from December every year. Job offers, dates of interviews, selection of candidates etc. are announced through the Placement Office Notice Board. Similar communication is sent to the Notice Boards in each hostel and announced in the placement website for students. The office does not compel any Sanjay Memorial Institute of Technology – SMIT Ganjam students to accept any job offer, nor does it recommend any particular student to the industry. The entire procedure being purely voluntary, the Placement Office serves to merely bridge the gap between a job-aspirant and a prospective employer.
