Behala College – Kolkata was established as a grant-in-aid State Government Sponsored College in the year 1963 affiliated to Calcutta University under the Refugee Rehabilitation Scheme of the Government of India. It was recognized under section 2f by UGC in 1982. The College came under the pay packet scheme of the Government of West Bengal in the late seventies. Behala College – Kolkata came into being with a mission to provide higher education to the poorer and deprived sections of the people of the area. The goal of the College is to provide an education that integrates curricular knowledge with value education and need-based training.
Behala College – Kolkata situated on a plot of 1.93 acres located in an urban setting within Kolkata. It has many locational advantages, being in a quiet area at one end of the city and at the same time very much part of an academically rich, as well as industrially and commercially vibrant center of India.
Behala College – Kolkata campus consists of a three-storied main building and an annexe building in a large area of land measuring nearly two bighas. The buildings have 55 rooms, surrounded by wide-spread corridors facing a lash green lawn with a number of young Tamarisk, Deodar, and Ravenella along with other decorative and ornamental plants and hedges. There is a beautiful pool with a flight of steps reaching the water’s edge.
