Government Degree College - Chhtarapur is one of the pioneer institution of higher education in rural and tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh. It has the rare distinction of having completed Seventeen years of its inception in 1987-88. This College has been serving the cause of education right from the times of the erstwhile princely state of Bijawar. It was established in 1987 as under graduate level higher education institute. It was started P. G. classes in Subject Pol. Science, Hindi Literature and Economics by the contribution of JanBhagidhari Samiti.
Government Degree College - Chhtarapur is situated at Bijawar Distt. Chhtarapur. For the development of College many activities are conducted in collaboration with UGC, CRO, Bhopal. Minor and major research projects have been granted to the Government Degree College - Chhtarapur last year. The U G C has also granted the amount for purchasing personal computer to the college, for SC and S T students, the commission has also granted his permission for remedial coaching.
As per schedule of cultural calendar of the government, Government Degree College - Chhtarapur organizes many curricular activities through "Youth Festival" every year for physical as well as mental development of students. Unit consists of hundred volunteers, under the scheme of regular activities of N S S the volunteers gets a chance to develop a multi- dimensional personality. tree plantation, collection & distribution of old cloths among the needy, upkeep, cleanliness of the college and the surroundings and other such activities are carried out under this programme. Many National Literary awareness programmes are also conducted under this unit.
