Established under "Open Door Policy" of Govt.of India in August 1962 as a Govt Polytechnic College - Khurai started functioning as an Institution of Technical Education for Three Diploma in Engineering Programmes, viz Civil, Mechanical and Electrical. Later on it was taken over by the Govt. of M.P. in November 1984. The present intake is of 180 students every year ,60 each branch.
Govt Polytechnic College - Khurai is situated at Khurai (M.P.). Govt Polytechnic College - Khurai was the first Polytechnic in the state of M.P. to be designated as community Polytechnic by Govt.of India. It was the first Polytechnic in the State to have established its own Entrepreneurship Development Cell. It was again the first Polytechnic in the State to have EMD & IIPC ("Entrepreneurship & Management Development " and " Institute -Industry Partnership Cell" ) Schemes of AICTE. A two year Post-Diploma in rural Technology and Management was also started and run for 3 batches for the first time in the State in this Polytechnic College. Under World Bank Assistance, All the laboratories of the Institution are well equipped and all modern equipment ,instruments and machineries including CNC machines are available for students " Practical training".
Govt Polytechnic College - Khurai library contains about 12242 titles of latest edition covering all subjects being taught and also provides facilities under special schemes of Govt.for SC/ST and backward class students.13 technical Journals are subscribed on regular basis in addition to newspapers and periodicals. A well furnished spacious reading room is an attraction for the students at their leisure. The Open door and indoor sport facilities of the institution are such that they attract many local organization to organize their tournaments.
Govt Polytechnic College - Khurai has broadband connectivity with many nodes in LAN in Computer Section with open Access for Students for Net Surfing. Two Hostel buildings( 176 and 51 seater) , separate for junior students, is another feather in the cap with a post metric hostel of for SC/ST students of Tribal Welfare Department is at visible distance. Separate auditorium is not available however 3 big halls are converted as per requirement.
Training and Placement Cell is the spring board for career development of students, their ultimate objective of pursuing technical education. Keeping in view this responsibility and importance, Govt Polytechnic College - Khurai has a well organized cell with vastly experienced and suitably competent personnel, and high grade infrastructure. The pre-placement training has become mandatory for students, so they can face highly competitive selection process with confidence.
