Bhagini Nivedita College-BNC is a constituent college of University of Delhi. Established by the then Delhi Administration in August, 1993 as a 'Women's College' in the South Western part of Delhi, the college is now funded and supported by the Government of Delhi.
Bhagini Nivedita College-BNC is situated in calm, serene and pollution free environment of Village Kair located about 6.5 Kms off Najafgarh in West Delhi. The college is named after Sister Nivedita, a disciple of Swami Vivekanand who devoted her whole life for the education and welfare of women.
Bhagini Nivedita College-BNC has a well stocked Library that has over 17800 books, 54 periodicals and journals and 14 newspapers. The Library also has an extensive range of reference books on all the subjects taught in the college. In addition, the library subscribes to academic Journals and periodicals of varied interest. Bhagini Nivedita College-BNC brings out its yearly magazine called "ATMAJA". It gives an opportunity to students to showcase their writing talents and for the faculty members to share their views with the student community. The magazine includes essays, articles, stories and poems written by both the teachers and the students. The college has a facility of a pickup van which is available for commuting between the college campus and Mitraw at fixed timings. Extracurricular activities aim at allowing the students to achieve overall personality development in addition to acquiring academic knowledge. Furthermore, the students have an option to join the National Cadet Corp (NCC) or the National Service Scheme (NSS) or the National Sports Organisations (NSO) wings of the college.
Bhagini Nivedita College-BNC offers Post Graduate and Under Graduate Courses such as Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Hindi and bachelor of Commerce. The motto of the college is 'Vidya Shakti Samasthanam' which means 'Spiritual Seat of the Power of Education'. BNC's aims to inculcate academic excellence, in a motivating learning environment with the right amount of extracurricular activities.
