Janki Devi Memorial College-JDM College is one of the most prestigious colleges of Delhi University. It is located in central Delhi, about 5 kilometers from Connaught Place.
Janki Devi Memorial College-JDM College was established in 1959 by the famous Gandhian Shri Brij Krishan Chandiwala in memory of his mother Smt. Janki Devi. The strength of the student community has increased to nearly 2000 from all over the country and the college has a distinguished and highly qualified teaching faculty. College students have been showing their immense interest in academics, extra and co-curricular activities and sports bagging top University positions, scholarships, medals and prizes.
Janki Devi Memorial College-JDM College has built up an impressive infrastructure which consists of a fully automated library system, a computer centre, a well equipped seminar room, an open air auditorium, a modern cafeteria, a medical room headed by a highly qualified doctor, a sports room with all possible facilities and modernized office block.
Janki Devi Memorial College-JDM College library has over one lakh books and 82 national and international journals catering to need of the different courses being offered by the college. The Library has basically two sections of collection general collection which is open access, issuable collection and the other is reference collection which is non-issuable.
Janki Devi Memorial College-JDM College has a medical room which is open on all working days from 10.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon to cater to the first aid and other emergency requirements of students and staff. Today, the college has three computer labs with nearly 80 computers with internet connectivity for the use of students and faculty members. The college also aims to make its building accessible to the physically challenged for which it has recently constructed a series of ramps that provides access to the classrooms, bathrooms, library, staffroom, tutorial rooms and the administrative block. The College also offers various PG courses like Master of Arts (hons.), Master of Arts (programme), Master of Commerce (hons.), and Master of Commerce (programme).
Janki Devi Memorial College-JDM College for Non - Collegiate teaching provides students B.A. and B.Com Pass courses of Delhi University. These courses are designed for those students who cannot attend regular colleges. Classes are held on every Sunday and during holidays & vacations. For add-On Course, Digital Literacy Programme (DLP), students can register in the college. This course is a 40 hour self learning course (Digital Literacy Curriculum, DLC), which focuses on essential computing skills like machine handling, different operating systems, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, datebooks, computer security, digital device handling through audio-video interactive modules. After studying 40 hours of DLC, the learner has to take a digital literacy certificate test. On qualifying, ILLC-DU Microsoft Certificate will be awarded to the students.
