Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce was founded in 1984 as the commerce college in Delhi University. The college has emerged as one of its kind institution progressing towards exceptional heights. The college offers a mix of resources and environment for all round personality development of its students. Its objectives are in consonance with the fact that national economic and commercial relations are becoming so closely interdependent that meaningful vital changes are being introduced with academic curriculum in the centers of higher learning.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce possesses modern infrastructure including spacious class-rooms, sprawling grounds, a well-equipped library, extremely sophisticated computer labs, seminar hall and conference room. Apart from academic excellence, the thrust is also on personality development and group dynamism for which sports amenities like cricket ground, volley ball, basket ball, lawn tennis, table-tennis etc. of national standard have been developed.
Located near the T.V. Tower of Pitam Pura, the college is sponsored by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, a statutory body, constituted under an Act of the Indian Parliament. The college has been named after the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Drawing inspirations from the teachings of Sikh Gurus, the college helps its pupils to take in the morals and spiritual values that have universal acceptance.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce is recognized by the University of Delhi for the following courses of study: B.Com Honors, B.Com Pass, B.A. Honors Economics, B.A. Honors Business Economics, B.Sc. Honors Computer Science, Diploma in Business Journalism and Corporate Communication, Post Graduate Diploma in International Marketing. There are a few add-on courses too like: Certificate course in French Language, Short term course in tally Accounting Practices and Foundation Course in Banking.
The college is a co-educational English medium institution. Every student of the college has to carry the identity card issued by the college authorities. These identity cards will have to be produced whenever required.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce library came into being along with the foundation of the college in 1984. The college also brags of a rich collection of books on Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Sikhism. It also subscribes to 25 newspapers, 50 journals and Magazines (Indian as well as International) on diverse subjects. The college magazine 'Amrit' brings out articles by written by teachers and students and reviews the educational, cultural, social and sports activities of the college.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce had set up a placement cell in January 2005 to institutionalize the process of summer training and final placements of students from BBE, BSE, B.Com, B.Com Honors, and Economic Honors. Post Graduate Courses like Diploma in International Marketing and Diploma in Business Journalism and Corporate Communication have got 100% placement result.
