Government Polytechnic - Soron was established in the year 1983.situated on Bareilly-Kasganj road .The institute is well connected by road and railways. The institute has its own buildings including Administrative block, Lab block, Workshop, Mechanical Engg. Block, Hostel building for the students is available in the institute campus. The Laboratories and Workshops are full filled with sufficient equipment, furniture etc. for perfect teaching and other activities. Government Polytechnic - Soron is running the following three years diploma engineering courses for boys and girls, in (1) Civil Engineering, (2) Mechanical Engineering and (3) Architectural Assistantship.
Government Polytechnic - Soron running courses are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The main objective of Government Polytechnic - Soron is to trained the students according to the syllabi of Board of Technical Education U.P. Lucknow and after successful training the passed student’s placement in different organizations. Training & Placement cell help the students for placement. College provides Diploma program to the college students.

Government Polytechnic - Soron library has around 37358 books related to different subjects of various disciplines of engineering, computer science, information technology, basic sciences, languages and other general books. The collection of books is strengthened and updated. A separate Book Bank is also provided to meet the requirement of students of S.C., B.C. and other lower income groups. The Book Bank has a collection of 11421 books.
Government Polytechnic - Soron has one bus, one mini bus to take care of educational tours and industrial visits of students. A jeep is attached to Training & Placement Officer to keep interaction with industries for the placement of students. Government Polytechnic - Soron is fully equipped with latest Machinery & Equipments to train the students to face the challenge of Modern Industries and conduct all the experiments and practical exercises as per the curriculum of the courses being run at this institute.
In spite of the tough and demanding curriculum, sports and extra-curricular activities are carried out as a regular feature in this Institute and students of Government Polytechnic - Soron participate and perform well in the state level cultural and sport competitions e.g. Youth festival, Inter-Polytechnic Athletic Meets and the state level tournaments of various games and other literary activities like Quiz-contest, & Declamation Contest etc.
Government Polytechnic - Soron has also the scheme of N.S.S (National Service Scheme). Various activities are carried out by the volunteers of this scheme, which include blood donation Government Polytechnic - Soron campus, tree plantation etc. Latest achievement of our Polytechnic is the first position in Inter – Polytechnic Table Tennis tournament held at G.P Sonepat in Sep 2006. And second position in Inter – Polytechnic Volley ball (shooting) held at G.P Nilokheri in Sep 2006.
Government Polytechnic - Soron provides different facilities. A comprehensive annual program of all academic and extra curriculum activities is prepared in the beginning of session. This is known as calendar of Activities. This include all National Festival, Quiz Contest, Paper Reading contest, Declamation contest, Blood Donation Camp, Tree plantation Camp, Sports Events, Short Industries visit, Long Industrial visit, Quest lectures etc. There are various clubs in Government Polytechnic - Soron which provide sample opportunities to the students to develop into a complete human being.
