RVS College of Nursing – Coimbatore was started in 1993 with a four year B.Sc Degree programme. Subsequently a 2 years programme leading to M.Sc (N) and 3 ½ years leading to Diploma Nursing was started in 2006.
RVS College of Nursing – Coimbatore is situated on a vast campus, which runs other institutions. It has several airy, well-ventilated, well-furnished class rooms, nursing laboratories and library. The College has the advantage of having access to the science laboratories of the Arts and Science College on the campus. RVS College of Nursing – Coimbatore library has adequate important books and journals in medical, nursing and allied sciences, etc. Sufficient funds are allocated to procure books and journals each year. Presently there are more than 3000 books. We also have subscribed for 8 International journals and 26 National Journals.
RVS College of Nursing – Coimbatore trust has recently built its own 150 bedded hospital which caters to the needs of the Medical, Surgical, Obstetrical and Pediatric patients. The hospital is well equipped with operation theater, labor room, X-ray and USG machines, laboratory facilities, Pharmacy & Dental clinic. RVS College of Nursing – Coimbatore students are posted for their clinical practice in the hospital as per the curricular requirements. The hospital also runs a weekly mobile clinic for 4 of the adopted villages around Sulur. The students assist in the conduct of the same along with the medical fraternity.
RVS College of Nursing – Coimbatore also sends students to a wide range of hospitals including Government Hospital at Palladam and Tirupur.other private hospitals in and around Sulur, Coimbatore and Tirupur, which has sufficient clinical material for student's practice. RVS College of Nursing – Coimbatore students are also sent to Chennai for the Psychiatric postings at the Government Institute of Mental Health, Chennai. Community experience is provided in areas around Sulur, Rathinavel Subramaniam Primary Health Centre, Kadampadi, Sengathurai, Kumarapalayam and Kodangipalayam and Somanur Primary health Center.
Clinical experience is arranged by the RVS College of Nursing – Coimbatore as per the course requirements at the discretion of the college authorities. Shift duties are arranged for senior students. Separate hostels are available for male and female students. It is mandatory for students to stay in the hostel. Basic amenities for accommodation are provided in the hostel. Spacious games fields are available for out door games.
