MSR Degree College - Nellore was founded by late Sri Magunta Subba Rama Reddy a committed humanist, a great philanthropist and parliamentarian as one of the educational institutions in the year 1993. The institution draws its inspiration from the founder and carries out his mission to bring out a social change through education to the rural poor. To make his dream a reality, the founder advisor Sri T.Venka Reddy I.A.S (Retd) strove hard in monitoring the various academic activities in all the 16 Junior Colleges and 3 Degree Colleges established in the rural areas of Nellore and Prakasam districts run by their charitable trust.

The college has always been the recipient of the best institutional award since 2001. The college has carved out a niche for itself in nurturing and shaping the talents and destinies of its students. The college has constructed in own building in 2007. the students are participating in many social activities including the programmes of National Service Scheme.
