Sikh National College – Banga is managed by Sikh Educational Society. It has the academic streams of Humanities, Commerce and Science upto the Graduate level. The college offers courses Bachelor of Science in Electronics, Bachelor of Arts in Office Management and Secretarial and Bachelor of Commerce. It also offers under-graduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Economics and Computer Science, and senior secondary courses in Medical, Non-Medical and Commerce in Sikh National Collegiate School.
The Institutes have 1532 students on its role in the current academic session (2010-11) in college and 235 students in school totaling the number 1767. Keeping pace with the latest developments and changing demands of the market and society, the Sikh National College – Banga authorities have the vision and power to introduce new streams and subjects. The College has two well equipped computer laboratories for imparting technical skills to the learners at undergraduate and post graduate levels.
Vocational subjects like Computer Applications, Dress Designing & Tailoring, Functional English and Office Management & Secretarial Practices along with add-on courses have been introduced to impart skill to the students. All these departments have their own well equipped laboratories/workshops. From the current academic session the college has introduced post graduate diploma in journalism and mass communication. To inculcate habit of self study the Sikh National College – Banga has a well equipped library, with more than 4000 volumes. Apart from text books, there are encyclopedias, research journals, monographs, dissertations (B.Ed.), magazines and news papers. The students are expected to make maximum use of the library. To keep the books in circulation and make them available to all students withdraw books will be governed by the following rules.
These books must be renewed after two weeks and four weeks by the students and staff respectively. When Sikh National College – Banga students borrow the books from the library check them thoroughly, after you have got them issued in your name then it is your responsibility to return them in proper form. Don’t underline the pages or disfigure them. Disfigured books will not be accepted by the Librarian and you will have to replace them. Each student will be issued a library cum identity card, which the students will always keep in person. In case this card is lost, duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs.50. College offers different kind of Bachelor, Master, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma and Certification courses leading to different streams.
