Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim was established in the year 2005 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuit Fathers). It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra. Vision of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim is to nurture the joy of excellence in a world of high technology. Mission of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim is to strive to match global standards in Technical Education by Interaction with Industry, Continuous Staff training and Development of quality of life.
Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim is largely due to the vision of the late Fr. William Borges, S.J. He was the Principal of St. Xavier’s Technical Institute at Mahim, forty years ago. He had the vision to develop this place as a Centre of Excellence for Engineering Education. Unfortunately during his lifetime and due to paucity of funds, he could not make his dream come true. The present Jesuit Provincial and Chairman of the Bombay Xaverian Corporation, the parent body of various Jesuit Trusts / Societies in Mumbai is Fr. Francis de Melo, S.J. He is a visionary who also headed St. Xavier’s Technical Institute as Principal for almost twenty years and was instrumental in the realization of late Fr. Borges’ dream. Thus the Xavier Institute of Engineering came into existence in 2005. Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim offers different kind of bachelor and master courses leading to different streams.
Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim is located in Opposite S.L.Raheja Hospital Mahim Causeway, Mahim (West) Maharashtra. Library facility of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim is the heart of any academic institution. A Library is a trinity of documents, users and staff and is a centre for teaching and learning. The XIE Library is spacious, airy and well ventilated. It is situated on the first floor and includes the Reference section and the Reading Room. The total library collection includes. Workshop facility of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim has a huge workshop for students on the ground floor. It is well ventilated and bright and has all the required equipment for students to get hands-on experience.
Internet Lab of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim is considered to be the lifeline of Information Technology. The Internet lab offers high-speed Internet access to all students of this institution through leased line. All sections of students and staff make use of this facility to access exhaustive information available in the Internet.
Central Library of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim has a central library with spacious halls and exclusive reference section with quite number of volumes on all subjects whose total exceeds 27285 volumes. There are 79 National journals and 59 International Journals subscribed in our college Library. The library remains open from 9 AM to 8.PM. Our Library is completely computerized and measures are being taken to promote our Library to Digital Library.
Hostel facility of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim is endorsed with a salubrious hostel both separately for men and women. The hostels are more spacious and have the capacity to accommodate 450 students in each hostel. The eye catching point in our hostel is that an environment is created that may menace the students a homely feeling with hygienic food and mother care. The hostel is located in the sylvan mountainous surrounding region that gives nourishment to the college hostel.
Canteen facility of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim has a spacious, clean, well-lit and airy canteen serving tasty and hygienic snacks. Quality meals are provided at reasonable rates. The Canteen is also the hub of student activity and many a time students are seen discussing their projects over a cup of tea and snacks. Gymkhana facility of Xavier Institute of Engineering – Mahim has a well-equipped gymkhana on the 3rd floor. It has adequate facilities for various indoor and outdoor sports like Cricket, Football, Volley Ball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom and Chess.
