Shree Chandraprabhu Jain College – Chennai is promoted by Shree Chandraprabhu Jain Educational foundation. The college is one more example of magnificent contribution by Jain community. The college is established in North Madras, a backward area, to provide higher education to the needy at very reasonable fees and without collecting any donation/capitation fee. It was established in 1997 and started functioning from Vijayadasami Day 11/10/1997, the golden jubilee year of india's Independence.
The college is affiliated to the University of Madras and is being managed as a Jain Minority institution within the meaning of Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution of India. The Shree Chandraprabhu Jain College – Chennai was started for men students and was made co-educational in 2002-03 due to on local public demand.

The Shree Chandraprabhu Jain College – Chennai library known as Learning Resource Centre (LRC) was established in 1999. The LRC is attached to the main building. Its area is 6500 sq.ft. The provides a pleasant and intellectually stimulating ambience and convenient place for reading disciplines of Computer Science, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Plant Biology and Bio-Technology, Social Work, Sociology, Economics, Commerce, Management, Tamil, English, Hindi, Telugu, Philosophy, Religion, Jainlogy and other General Books.
The Library provides a number of services. During the coming academic year Shree Chandraprabhu Jain College – Chennai are planning to give a new concept in Resource Sharing (i.e), INFLIBNET.
