Agurchand Manmull Jain College - AMJC or commonly known as A.M.Jain College Shri Mohanmullji Chordia was honored with “Padma Shri” title by the Government of India for its service to the cause of higher education and became Padma Shri Mohanmullji Chordia. The College was momentarily housed in the Jain Boarding Home at T.Nagar, Chennai, between June 1952 and June 1954. The keystone of the new building at Meenambakkam was laid by Dr.S.Radhakrishan, the then Vice-President of India, while Sir.A.Lakhshmansamy Mudaliyar of the Madras University, presided over the function.
Agurchand Manmull Jain College - AMJC is spread across 42.24 acres land that is beautifully landscaped and maintained with ideal infrastructure. It has a well-equipped Computer Center with most recent technology and a Studio with dubbing theatre for Visual Communication Course. The college has an Indian Bank Extension Counter of the Nanganallur Branch within its campus. It also has two Libraries, the Central Library with 68000 Books and 87magazines and the Annexe Library in the main building with over 13000 books and25 magazines. The college has a 140 room hostel building for its students and a Canteen. There are wonderful sports facilities that include three Cricket grounds, Basket Ball Court, Volley ball Court and Gymnasium and a Yoga Centre. In addition to the facility at the Central Library, departments have departmental Libraries to look after the needs of the Post-Graduate and Research students. The college has a special tie up with IIT that lets the college borrow books on an institutional basis.

The College conducts aided UG and PG and Research programmes in the Day College. It also runs un-aided self financing UG and PG programmes in the evening College.
