Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology - NSIT Delhi is among the first Engineering Colleges of India. It is an independent Institution of the Government of NCT of Delhi under Department of Training and Technical Education. The College was previously known as Delhi Institute of Technology-DIT and had its campus at Kashmere Gate, New Delhi till the year 1997.
Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology - NSIT Delhi campus is situated at Dwarka, in South West Delhi. The campus is spread over a vast area of 145 acres about 0.59 km. The campus has different Administrative building and Academic buildings for various departments. The campus has four boys' hostels and a girls' hostel within the campus. Sports facilities are also provided which include a football ground, cricket ground, table tennis rooms, gymnasium, tennis courts, volleyball courts etc. The Delhi government has planned a Science and Technology park at the College with the main objective being to 'establish Delhi as the hub of the knowledge industry'.
Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology - NSIT Delhi offers Ph.D programs under all Divisions and Schools ever since 1989. Teaching-cum-Research fellowship' scheme with a fellowship of Rs. 15000 per month is likely to be revised as per latest Ph. D. admission notification for 2010 academic session. The College shared its admission process and syllabus for different B.E courses with Delhi College of Engineering, both of which were prescribed by Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi.
With the alteration of Delhi College of Engineering to Delhi Technological University,
Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology - NSIT Delhi has become the only engineering college (technical institute) of Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi. Since inception of M.Tech and Ph.D programs the College is conducting these programs independently under Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi irrespective to those of Delhi College of Engineering.
The College will also conduct its own counseling for the admission to B.E. undergraduate programmes for the year 2010-11 for both, Delhi and Out Side Delhi region candidates on the basis of the merit ranks of All India Engineering Entrance Examination 2010 to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
The students are eligible for 85% of the total seats. Students from schools located within the National Capital Region like those in Noida, Gurgaon are not entitled for the CEE exam. Outside Delhi candidates are given admission using the AIEEE scorecard and are eligible for the remaining 15% of the seats. From the year 2010, no Combined Entrance Examination is conducted for admission to BE programmes of the College. The admissions to these under-graduate programmes B E courses is done on the basis of the merit ranks of AIEEE conducted by CBSE, New Delhi.
