Nirma Institute of Technology - Ahmedabad began in rented building in the year 1995 with only five under graduate programmes which were affiliated to Gujarat University. In 1996 the Institute started working in new campus & later in April 2003, Nirma University was set up. Institute of Technology is part of the Nirma University.

The College offers Graduate and Under Graduate programs to the students like B.Tech, M.Tech, and Doctor Programs etc. Industry Institution Interaction Cell is also set up to provide close links with industries. The reason to set up the cell is to find out the gap between need of the industry and end product of the institute.
